The vast majority of Lithops blooming takes place in autumn. The flowers only open for 2-3 hours at the end of the afternoon, but flowering lasts 4 to 7 days. They look like dandelion flowers but the simultaneous flowering of a group of plants or of the same multi-headed plant is the most beautiful effect. The flowers are mostly yellow (19 species) or white (9 species). 7 species present an intermediate situation the 2/3 uppert part of the petals yellow but the lower part white. Two species are distinguished by their variable color ranging from yellow to pink through orange: Lithops verruculosa and less clearly Lithops vallis-mariae.
